Thumbs Up for Edo state government as World bank Lauds State achivements

BENIN CITY – Against the backdrop of prudent management of available resources in providing essential infrastructure as demonstrated by the Comrade Adams Oshiomhole-led administration in Edo State, the World Bank has expressed its readiness to partner the state government in delivering services to the people.

World Bank’s Country Director, Mr. Onno Ruhi who made this known during the launch of Edo State Public Expenditure Management Financial Accountability Report (PEMFAR) in Benin City on Monday, applauded the development indices in the state.

Mr. Ruhi remarked that the world apex financial institution is always delighted coming to Edo State because there is progress not in terms of report, but actual infrastructural development continues to take place in the state.

“This is an example of a government delivering to its people, and that is why we are very keen to partner the Edo State government. We like to work with governments either at the national or state level. We believe in delivering services to the people because that is the only way we, as development partners can be relevant”, Mr. Ruhi further pointed out.

He noted that the Edo State government has demonstrated the capacity to deliver to the people by adhering to the principle of prudent management of available resources.

Comrade Oshiomhole while receiving the PEMFAR report, explained his satisfaction with the critical recommendations.

He noted that the recommendations will impact positively on the operation of all ministries, departments and agencies.

The governor added that they will also cover the entire process involved in approval, releases, management and accountability of incomes and expenditures.

Comrade Oshiomhole said the state has “a blue print to deal with our financial management challenges”.
